The Power of Internal Focus
Updated: Aug 9
Why is it that some days the contents of our thoughts are focussed and intentional and then others unstructured and disobedient? I am having one of those days and no matter how hard I try to stay on task, I keep looking for excuses to go off on a tangent. Can you relate?
I want to let you in on a little secret that will help to bring your awareness back more quickly to what’s important when you feel caught up in the unmeaningful.
Firstly, when you feel frustrated and unfocused, it’s because you have let the attention of the external become more important than your internal world. Often when there’s lots going on, new people, situations or emotional dramas, we tend to pay attention to what we are physically and emotionally experiencing in the moment.
Our bodily senses are the predominant tools we use to navigate our world, so it is natural to allow the signals they send to us to become front and centre of our day. The problem is anything that we are viewing or experiencing, has already manifested, and because the energy surrounding it has already become, it is easy for us to become consumed by what we physically come into contact with. Instead of having internal focus we allow our minds eye to wander on the visual stimulation placed infront of us.
Admittedly, I’ve been on social media way too much over the past week, watching all the political feeds specific to changes to our freedoms and economic future and it’s removed me from what could be to what already is. As a result, I feel limited, limited by what I’m witnessing because my reality has shifted to the outside world, rather than remaining tuned to the powerful place of creation that lives within the unmanifested thoughts of our internal reality.
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, unfocussed or just out of balance, take a moment to recognise where your attention is currently resting. To feel differently, you need to create a new thought, one that feels better and has enough purpose and intention to capture your attention and connect to a more meaningful inner desire.
Let me know if you spend more time focussing on what is, or what could be in the comments below.
Much Love
